Supporting drinking habits and commendable endeavours alike is Quartiermeister, a German beer that’s not only a thirst quencher but also a grassroots community initiative. The Quartiermeister beer, which headquarter is right in the Thinkfarm Berlin, is carried by only a limited number of its neighbourhood bars, every cent of profit from every bottle of Quartiermeister sold is fed back into community projects and charities. Quartiermeister asked me to CNC machine logos for them, I translated the logo into g-code and fired up the milling machine for them.
Because world domination is impossible without a proper corporate identity. The artwork will be CNC machined into the cover of the insulated cooling chamber and I’ll make an inlay for the top lid. Special care was taken with the corners in the artwork – they have to be suitable for milling and inlay work.
The Open Source Beehives project proposes to design hives that can support bee colonies in a sustainable way, to monitor and track the health and behaviour of a colony as it develops. Each hive contains an open source sensory kit, The Smart Citizen Kit (SCK), which can transmit to an open data platform: Smartcitizen.me
These sensor enhanced hive designs are open and freely available online. I forked the little desktop sized bee hive model, made it metric and CNC laser cutted it for OSBH. It will be displayed at the OuiShare Summit Berlin and advertise the OSBH-workshops which will happen in July.
